Demon of a Dragon
"Brotherly rivalry is so much fun, isn't it...?"
Prologue
Chapter 1
“Where did that punk go? He needs to learn a lesson when people steal from me,” a man with an over-large nose and beady black eyes said to himself as he walked quickly down the heavily snowed street. His muscles were bulging underneath his tight, dark T-shirt as he continued down the road, the bottom of his slacks were wet and frozen with the falling snow. His face seemed to be red with anger. “Now where did he go?”
A boy with short brown hair and a white long sleeved button shirt walked out of the nearby candy store. Shoving chocolate into his jeans pockets as he walked along the snowed sidewalk away from the man. A curved dagger of some kind was sheathed and tied to the boys left leg.
‘He should have a clue,’ the man told himself as he walked over to the boy, and said, “Hey you!” The boy turned to face him as he added, “Have you seen a demon boy with blue hair and bluish-purple scaly wings come this way? I think he was wearing a black leather jacket. He robbed me and is now about to pay the price.”
“Um…yeah,” the boy answered as he pointed down the street, back the way the man had come. “He went that way just now, looked like he was in a bit of a hurry.”
“Thanks,” the man said as he punched his fist into his other hand. “Now to go and teach him a lesson.” He ran off in the direction that the boy had pointed him in.
‘Sucker,’ the boy thought to himself as a smirk appeared on his face. He walked quickly to the nearby alley and after making sure that the man was out of earshot he said loudly, “Hey Ryu! All clear you can come out of hiding now. That guy is just eating the worm!”
“Kay,” A voice answered from above him. The boy looked up to see a winged boy jump off the roof, with his wings spread out. Snow was specked along the boy’s bluish hair; a sky blue diamond was seen glowing slightly underneath the boy’s hair. His jeans were frozen up with wet snow. He jumped done onto the nearby garbage can, as he said, “Let’s hope Reisha will be all right while we’re not there.” Pulling a huge sword from a pile of snow beside him, he added, “Glad I grabbed this. I haven’t had a good one in a while.”
“Stop worrying Ryu,” Tekke said as he began to walk out the alley quickly. “She’ll be fine.”
“But what if" Ryu had begun to say as he shook the snow off his jacket before belting the sword to his back.
“What did I just say?” Tekke asked as he quickly rounded on Ryu with narrowed eyes, almost turning into Ryu as he did so.
“To not worry,” Ryu said as he looked down at the ground. “But Reisha-”
“Then do as I say and don’t!” Tekke told him. Then turning away he added, “Reisha will be fine. If anything happens, we’ll be there in seconds. Don’t worry, she’s out of harms way.”
“Once upon a falling star, twice is who you really are,” a young girl sang as the snow fell around her. Her long blond hair flew around in the wind as she spun around singing in the snow. The light pink dress of hers flowed freely around her legs. She wore a golden bracelet around one of her pink rimmed white wrist warmers. Her light brown catlike ears were specked with snow, the tips where a creamed white. Her fluffy tail twitched with excitement as she laughed to herself, she continued on singing, “Thrice is for your own true wish, I know I’ll find a way. To tell him how I care.”
The big-nosed man watched the girl from a distance as he watched her dance and sing by the frozen up fountain ahead of him.
“Well, well, well, the boys girl,” the man thought to himself as he walked towards the girl. “She’s quite pretty too, this should be fun.”
“On this Quiet night, I’ll be waiting for you,” The girl sang to herself as she threw some snow in the air. The black claws like marks along her cheekbones were dark and made her soft face look pale, “Remembering the love that we shared will bring me back to your side.”
“Hey,” the man said as he walked up to her. She turned to face him in surprise.
“Um, Hi,” the girl said as she looked down at the ground.
“What’s a pretty girl, like you, doing out here during a snow storm?” The man said as he gestured at the falling snow around him. “A bit cold out here don’t you think?”
“N-no. Not really,” The girl said as she averted her eyes.
“Wanna come over to my place?” As a look of confusion crossed the girl’s face he added in the same sly tone, “I can show you things you’ve never seen before in your life.”
“Hm?” The girl shook her head and said, “N-no, I’m waiting for a friend.”
The man grabbed the girl’s arm as he said, “Come with me.”
“What- what are you doing? Let go of me!” The girl said loudly as she tried to pull her arm out of his grasp. When he continued to drag her with him, as loud as she could she yelled, “Ryu! Help!”
In the distance she heard the flapping of wings coming that way. As the snow picked up she saw a shadowed creature with wings and a long sword out. As Ryu came into view she heard him yelling, “Reisha!”
“Ryu!” Reisha said, exhaling a sigh of relief. “Thank you…”
“You!” The big nosed man exclaimed loudly as he turned to face Ryu. Ryu’s wide sword was just inches from his face as he landed in front of the two.
“Get your sick hands off of her,” Ryu hissed as he held the sword threateningly in front of the man’s face; “You sick ass hole.”
“Why should I?” The man said darkly as he narrowed his beady eyes. “You stole something from me, its only right that I return the favor.”
“Get your off of her,” Ryu hissed. “Or you lose your head in two seconds.”
“W-when did you get that?” The man trembled slightly as he watched Ryu draw the sword back. Then as he threw Reisha to the ground beside him, he said, “Fine, but I’ll be back.”
“No you won’t.” Ryu mumbled darkly as he watched the man walk away quickly. Ryu put his sword away into the sheath that was tied to his back. He bent down to help Reisha up as he asked, “Are you all right? Did he hurt you at all?”
“No I’m all right,” Reisha replied as she smiled to Ryu. Then looking away she said, “I’m sorry, I ruined your guys’ plan.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Ryu said as he pulled her up onto her feet and into a hug. “At least you’re all right. Right now that’s all I care about.”
“R-ryu?” Reisha said quickly, blushing greatly.
Tekke came running up to them out of the lightening snow, saying as he came, “Hey guys, I managed to get something.” He stared at the two as he watched them step apart, both blushing slightly. He stared with narrowed eyes, and looking between the two he asked, “Okay…what happened just now?”
“N-nothing,” Reisha said quickly as she played with the golden bracelet on her wrist. Ryu said nothing as he continued to avert his eyes from Tekke.
“Oh I get it,” Tekke said loudly as a smirk appeared on his face.
“What?” Reisha asked quickly.
“You two went all lovey dovey when I wasn’t here didn’t you?” Tekke answered as he pointed at the two. His smirk still on his face.
“What? No we didn’t!” Reisha exclaimed as her face grew to a bright red. Ryu narrowed his eyes in annoyance at Tekke’s words.
“Ahh… I can see it now,” Tekke said then imitating Ryu’s voice he said, “Hey Reisha, let’s make out.” Then acting like a girl he imitated a high pitched voice that was nothing near Reisha’s, saying, “Like, o-m-g, okay!”
Ryu and Reisha stared in surprised silence as Tekke laughed to himself. Sighing he said, “Ahh…I crack myself up.”
“Let’s go home, Reisha,” Ryu said, irritated, as he turned away from Tekke.
“Okay,” Reisha said as she turned quickly to follow Ryu.
As Tekke chased after them he yelled out, “Hey! Wait!” He watched Ryu stop to pick Reisha up as she caught up with him, then fly off with her. Then, as loud as he could, he yelled, “Don’t leave me here! Guys! Wait up!”
“You hear something?” Ryu asked as he began to fly above the cloud line. The moon shone down upon them as the night sky sparkled with stars.
“Nope,” Reisha said as she shook her head, leaning on Ryu she closed her eyes and smiled to herself as she thought, ‘He hugged me…’
